Overview

The Add-On ADD-GMC-SX-LC is a compact media converter designed to bridge the gap between copper Ethernet and fiber optic networks. It specifically converts a 1000BASE-TX (RJ-45) connection to a 1000BASE-SX (LC) multi-mode fiber connection, enabling network extensions up to 550 meters. This device is ideal for extending network infrastructure in environments where standard Ethernet cable lengths are insufficient, such as connecting security cameras or access control panels located in distant building sections or across campus areas.

Compatibility

This converter is designed for standard Gigabit Ethernet (1000 Mbps) networks. It interfaces with any network device featuring a 1000BASE-TX (RJ-45) port, such as network switches, routers, or IP cameras. The fiber optic output uses an LC connector for multi-mode fiber, operating at 850nm wavelength. It is compatible with standard network infrastructure that supports Gigabit Ethernet transmission over multi-mode fiber.

Installation Notes

Requires standard LC-terminated multi-mode fiber optic cable for the fiber connection and a standard Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet cable for the RJ-45 connection. Power is supplied via a standard 5V DC power adapter (sold separately). Ensure the fiber optic cable is clean and free of debris before connecting to the LC port for optimal performance and longevity.
