Relay Modules
Relay modules expand the output capability of intrusion, access, and fire panels, providing switched contacts for auxiliary devices such as horn strobes, door holders, HVAC interlocks, and third-party signaling. They are a standard building block in any system with more outputs than the main panel provides natively.
Plan Your Deployment
- Number of relays per module and contact form (SPDT, DPDT)
- Contact rating (resistive and inductive) for the load
- Trigger voltage and isolation for the control panel
- Mounting: PCB, DIN rail, or enclosure-ready
- Manual bypass switch and LED indicator requirements
What to Look For
Undersizing relay contacts for inductive loads (solenoids, motor contactors) is a common cause of premature failure; derate the contact rating by 30-50% for inductive loads. Surge suppression diodes or MOVs across coil-driven loads protect both the relay and the control panel output.
Common Deployment Scenarios
Relay modules are used to drive door holders, activate elevator recall for access control, switch HVAC during after-hours intrusion events, and provide form-C contacts for interface to third-party systems. They mount inside a common access or intrusion enclosure alongside the panel.
