The Speco ACKIT1B is a door access control system built on a quad-core 1.5 GHz processor with embedded Linux, designed to manage up to 4 entry points from a single controller unit. It starts as a 2-door base configuration but expands to 4 doors when paired with the A2M expansion board—useful when your facility's access topology grows or when you need to consolidate multiple single-door controllers into one manageable stack. The unit draws 115VAC @ 1.5A and includes 2 relay outputs (lock and auxiliary) plus status and tamper inputs per door. Battery backup is supported for controllers and readers only (battery sold separately; Powersonic PS-1270-FI or equivalent 12V 7Ah sealed lead acid recommended). UL-listed to 294 Series 7 and NDAA-compliant per Section 889 Part B, making it suitable for federal and government-adjacent deployments where supply-chain vetting matters.
The ACKIT1B works with Wiegand readers (4 total across all doors—one in and one out per door, 300–1000mA @ 12V per reader depending on load). It supports 2 request-to-exit (REX) inputs, 2 door-position status inputs, and 2 general-purpose auxiliary inputs for tamper or other logic triggers. Expansion beyond 4 doors requires the A2M board; beyond that, you'll need a separate controller. Compatible with access control credential ecosystems using Wiegand protocol—proximity cards, keypads, biometric readers with Wiegand output, or hybrid multi-tech readers. Integrate with third-party VMS or access management software via serial/network interfaces if your installation demands real-time event logging or remote provisioning; confirm integration specs with your VMS vendor before procurement.
Mount the unit in a DIN-rail or wall-mounted enclosure (14.25 x 14.25 x 3.75 inches). Operate within 50°F to 95°F (10°C to 35°C); temperature excursions risk processor throttling or reader power failures. Plan reader power budgets carefully: maximum 300mA per reader in normal mode, 1000mA system-wide for all readers combined—oversizing readers or adding high-draw credential readers (e.g., high-frequency biometric) may require auxiliary 12V power supplies. If battery backup is required, source the recommended Powersonic PS-1270-FI (12V 7Ah SLA) separately and wire standby loads (controllers and readers) to backup rails; lock power does not back up, so fail-safe or fail-secure lock logic must be architected into your door hardware and power distribution. Test REX and tamper inputs during commissioning; prewired tamper and power-fault detection are included on integrated-power units but require verification on your specific configuration.
