Overview

The ATEN CE980 is a rack-mountable KVM extender designed to transmit True 4K video signals and USB data over a single strand of fiber optic cable up to 300 meters. This unit is engineered for environments where high-resolution video and remote control are critical, such as control rooms, digital signage, or broadcast facilities, enabling a clean, long-distance connection without signal degradation.

Compatibility

This extender supports True 4K resolutions up to 4096 x 2160 @ 60Hz (4:4:4) and 3840 x 2160 @ 60Hz (4:4:4) over both DisplayPort and HDMI. It is compatible with various lower resolutions including 1080p and 720p at multiple frame rates, ensuring broad compatibility with display and source devices. The CE980R model specifically utilizes a single bi-directional SFP+ (LC) connection for data transmission at 10 Gbps.

Installation Notes

The CE980 requires a single fiber optic cable with LC connectors for operation. It supports remote wake-up of PCs via a pushbutton. Environmental operating conditions are 0–80% RH, non-condensing. Firmware can be upgraded to v1.0.068 for potential enhancements and bug fixes.
