Overview
The ATEN VE883ARK1 is the receiver unit for the VE883A fiber optic HDMI extender system, designed to terminate a true 4K signal run at the display end of a long-haul fiber deployment. When you need to push 4K @ 60 Hz (3840x2160 or 4096x2160) beyond the practical limits of HDMI copper — across a convention center floor, into a large-format display in a remote conference room, or through a building riser — this receiver pairs with the corresponding VE883A transmitter over OM3 multimode LC duplex fiber for distances up to 300 m (985 ft). At that range, copper HDMI is not a viable option; fiber eliminates signal degradation and ground loop issues common in long copper runs. VE883ARK1 is factory-new and sourced through commercial-grade supply channels.
Compatibility
This receiver is the dedicated remote unit for the ATEN VE883A HDMI fiber extender system. It requires the VE883A transmitter at the source end to function — it is not a standalone device and will not operate with other extender brands or generic SFP+ modules. Fiber infrastructure must be OM3 multimode, LC duplex connectors. The VE883ARK1 (multimode) is the MM variant; the single-mode version is the VE883AK2. Supported resolutions at the output include the full range from 640x480 through true 4K at 4096x2160p 60 Hz, as well as 1080p up to 240 Hz for high-refresh-rate display scenarios. The integrated GbE channel (RJ-45 female) passes Ethernet over the same fiber link, eliminating a second cable run for network-connected displays or media players. A compatible OM3 LC duplex fiber patch is required between transmitter and receiver; confirm your existing fiber plant meets OM3 spec before deployment. Installation Notes
Maximum cable distance is 300 m on OM3 multimode fiber — do not substitute OM1 or OM2, as those grades will not reliably support 4K bandwidth at this distance. The receiver unit connects to the display via a single HDMI output (orange port) and accepts DC power via a locking DC jack; confirm local power availability at the display end before finalizing conduit runs. Operating humidity tolerance is 0–80% RH non-condensing, making it suitable for climate-controlled interiors but not exposed or high-humidity environments.
