Overview

The ATEN CE990 is a rack-mountable optical KVM extender designed for extending True 4K video and USB connectivity over long distances using a single fiber optic cable. It's engineered for scenarios where the control console must be physically separated from the equipment rack by up to 10 kilometers, such as in large data centers, broadcast facilities, or industrial control rooms. This unit supports 10 Gbps data rates, ensuring high-bandwidth transmission for uncompressed 4K video and keyboard/mouse signals without perceptible latency.

Compatibility

This extender is designed to work with ATEN's CE990R receiver unit. It supports high-resolution video signals including up to 4096 x 2160 @ 60Hz (4:4:4) via DisplayPort and up to 3840 x 2160 @ 60Hz (4:4:4) via HDMI. It also handles lower resolutions like 1080p @ 144Hz and 720p @ 60Hz, providing flexibility for various display and application requirements. The unit requires a bi-directional SFP+ module with an LC connector for single-fiber operation.

Installation Notes

The CE990 requires a single-fiber optic connection using a compatible SFP+ module (sold separately). It supports a data rate of 10 Gbps, demanding appropriate cabling and module selection for optimal performance over its 10km range. The operating humidity range is 0–80% RH, non-condensing. A pushbutton is provided for waking up the PC.
