This addresses the hard ceiling of copper HDMI — where signal integrity collapses well before 10 meters at 4K — making it the right choice for AV-over-fiber installs in large venues, control rooms, and surveillance display walls where source and display are on opposite ends of a building. The VE883AK1 supports resolutions through 4096x2160 at 50/60 Hz, including 3840x2160 at full 60 Hz 4:4:4 and 4:2:0 modes, and handles the full ladder of legacy resolutions from 480p through 1080p for mixed-display environments. A GbE channel (RJ-45 female) rides alongside the video path for network bridging at the remote end — useful when the display location also needs a network drop. Power connects via a locking DC jack, preventing accidental disconnection in rack or wall-mount installs.

Compatibility

The VE883AK1 is the multimode (MM) variant, requiring OM3 LC duplex fiber. It is paired with the VE883A system — the transmitter unit is the VE883AT (function designation per manufacturer spec). If your infrastructure uses singlemode runs or longer distances than 300m, the VE883AK2 is the singlemode LC duplex variant of the same family. Input resolution support covers the full broadcast and PC range: 480p/576p/720p/1080i/1080p, 1920x1080 at up to 240 Hz for high-refresh displays, plus 3840x2160 and 4096x2160 at standard cinematic and broadcast frame rates. Do not use this unit with OM1/OM2 fiber — OM3 is the specified minimum for the 300m distance rating.

Installation Notes

Maximum fiber run is 300m on OM3; exceeding this with lower-grade multimode cable will degrade signal integrity at 4K frame rates. The locking DC jack requires positive engagement — verify the connector locks before closing the enclosure. Operating humidity is rated at 0–80% RH non-condensing; avoid installs in condensation-prone spaces such as unventilated outdoor enclosures without supplemental environmental control. The integrated GbE port (RJ-45 female) supports one concurrent network channel at the remote end — plan patch cable routing accordingly if the display location requires both video and network.
