ATEN VE1821 4K HDMI CAT6 Extender
Overview
The ATEN VE1821 is a compact extender designed to transmit 4K HDMI signals over standard Cat 6 cabling. It solves the distance limitations of HDMI by leveraging network infrastructure, making it suitable for AV distribution in conference rooms, digital signage, or extending video feeds in surveillance systems where the monitor is located remotely from the source. The VE1821T model specifically refers to the transmitter unit.
Compatibility
This extender supports a wide range of input resolutions, including standard 1920x1080 @ 60 Hz, 1080p @ 24/25/30/50/60 Hz, and 4K resolutions such as 3840x2160p @ 24/25/30 Hz and 4096x2160p @ 24/25/30 Hz. It is designed to work with Cat 5e, Cat 6, or ATEN's tailor-made cables for optimal performance. The EDID mode selection allows you to read EDID from either the transmitter's HDMI output or the receiver's HDMI output, ensuring compatibility with various displays and source devices.
Installation Notes
Maximum transmission distances are dependent on cable quality and resolution. For 4K signals, expect up to 30m over Cat 5e and 40m over Cat 6. For 1080p, distances extend to 35m over Cat 5e and 50m over Cat 6. The unit includes a single-way bypass channel via a 1 x Mini Stereo Jack for audio or serial data transmission from the receiver back to the transmitter. Operating humidity is rated for 20-90% RH, non-condensing.
