ATEN VE812 HDMI Extender
Overview
The ATEN VE812 is an HDMI extender designed to transmit high-definition video signals over a single, cost-effective CAT5e or CAT6 cable. This device is crucial for deployments where the source and display are separated by distances exceeding standard HDMI cable limitations, such as in digital signage, conference rooms, or command centers. The VE812 model specifically supports extending video up to 4K resolutions, ensuring clarity for detailed visuals. It uses a compact form factor suitable for integration into AV racks or behind displays.
Compatibility
This extender supports the transmission of HDMI signals from sources such as PCs, media players, or surveillance DVRs/NVRs to displays like monitors, projectors, or video walls. It is compatible with standard CAT5e and CAT6 cabling for optimal performance. For 4K resolutions, using CAT6a cabling is recommended for distances up to 100m, while CAT5e/6 supports 4K up to 70m. 1080p signals can be extended up to 100m over CAT5e/6.
Installation Notes
The ATEN VE812 requires a DC power input, with a single DC jack provided for connection. It operates within a humidity range of 0-80% RH (non-condensing). For rack-mounted products, note that standard physical dimensions of WxDxH are expressed using an LxWxH format. Ensure proper cable termination on both the transmitter and receiver ends for signal integrity. The maximum distance of 3m is for the included power adapter cable, not the CAT cable extension.
