Description

ATEN VE803 HDMI/USB Extender

Overview

The ATEN VE803 is a compact HDMI and USB extender designed to push display and USB signals beyond the native cable length limit — up to 40 meters at 1080p (or 60 meters at 1080i) over standard Cat5e or Cat6 infrastructure. In rack-mount AV or digital signage deployments where the source device sits in an equipment room and the display is mounted across the room or down the hall, the VE803 eliminates the need to run long HDMI runs (which degrade above 5–10m) by converting the signal for reliable structured-cabling transport. The USB Type-B female port supports peripheral connectivity at the remote end — relevant for interactive kiosk, touchscreen, or camera-connected display setups. EDID is handled in Default mode, so the source device negotiates resolution without requiring manual EDID management. Powered via a single DC jack.

Compatibility

The VE803 transmitter unit (VE803T function) pairs with a compatible ATEN receiver over Cat5e or Cat6 cabling. It fits within the broader ATEN KVM and AV extension line, and is suited for deployment alongside HDMI extender systems in corporate AV, digital signage, and AV-over-IP distribution environments. The USB Type-B female connector supports standard USB peripherals. EDID Default mode means it works with most HDMI-compliant displays without additional configuration — confirm your specific display's EDID requirements if using non-standard resolutions. For environments where AV accessories must integrate with structured Cat cabling plants, the VE803 fits without additional adapters.

Installation Notes

Maximum operating humidity is 0–80% RH non-condensing — avoid installations in unventilated outdoor enclosures or high-moisture environments. The transmitter function (VE803T) requires a matched ATEN receiver unit at the far end; the VE803 alone does not constitute a complete extension link. Power is supplied via DC jack — confirm the power supply is included or sourced separately before deployment. Sold in carton lots of 5 units, which aligns with multi-display rollouts.
