TP-Link TL-SX1008 8-Port 10G Multi-Gig Switch
Overview
The TL-SX1008 is an 8-port 10G multi-gigabit switch designed to serve as a backbone aggregator in surveillance networks where you need to move high-resolution or multiple-camera streams without bottlenecks. Each of the 8 RJ45 ports supports 10G speeds — meaning you can push sustained 4K or 8MP multi-camera feeds across a single link without queuing or frame drops. Plug-and-play operation: no configuration required for basic switching, so deployment is fast in both greenfield and retrofit environments.
Compatibility
The TL-SX1008 integrates with any standard IP surveillance camera, NVR, or switch ecosystem using RJ45 Ethernet. Multi-gig ports (2.5G, 5G, 10G auto-negotiation) are backward-compatible with standard 1G devices — older PoE cameras and recorders will connect and run at 1G without issue, though they won't benefit from the 10G bandwidth. Pair this switch with high-megapixel camera deployments (5MP–8MP multi-sensor or panoramic systems) or densely packed camera arrays where a single uplink to your core switch or NVR would otherwise saturate a 1G connection.
Installation Notes
1U steel rackmount case fits standard 19-inch racks. All 8 ports are standard RJ45 connectors — use Cat6A or Cat6 cabling for 10G runs (under 55m for 10G; Cat5e acceptable for shorter runs or legacy 1G segments). No external power supply required — the unit draws power via standard rack PDU connection. Passive cooling means no fan noise, suitable for quiet server rooms or network closets.
