The TL-SG108-M2 is an unmanaged 8-port 2.5G Ethernet switch designed for edge-of-network or desktop deployment in security and infrastructure environments. The 2.5G per-port throughput supports modern IP cameras, wireless access points, and network video recorders without the complexity (and cost) of managed switching. Desktop steel form factor fits confined equipment racks or cabinet spaces where space is limited. Plug-and-play architecture — no configuration required — makes it suitable for rapid integration into existing network switch architectures where speed upgrades are needed but management overhead is not justified.
The TL-SG108-M2 works with any device featuring standard RJ-45 Gigabit or multi-gigabit Ethernet ports: IP cameras (4MP and above benefit most from 2.5G throughput), wireless access points requiring backhaul bandwidth, and compact NVRs. The switch does not provide PoE power — all eight ports are data-only; pair with a PoE injector or PoE-capable upstream switch if power delivery to PoE cameras is required.
If your deployment requires managed features (VLAN segmentation, QoS, SNMP monitoring), consider a managed TP-Link multi-gig variant from the same family. If PoE power delivery is essential and you need it integrated into the switch itself, a higher-tier managed PoE switch model will be required, though at significantly increased cost and complexity.
Unmanaged design means no IP address, no web interface, and zero administrative overhead — the switch learns MAC addresses and forwards frames automatically. Eight 2.5G ports provide 20 Gbps total switching fabric, suitable for small-to-medium edge clusters. Desktop steel chassis protects electronics without requiring DIN rail or wall mounting.
