Overview
The TL-SG108-M2 is an unmanaged 8-port 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet switch built for edge-of-network deployments where you need multi-gig throughput without managed complexity. Each port auto-negotiates to 100 Mbps, 1 Gbps, or 2.5 Gbps depending on the connected device — meaning you get full 2.5G bandwidth to high-performance endpoints (modern NAS units, 2.5G-capable wireless access points, gaming workstations, 4K streaming systems) while remaining backward compatible with legacy 1G and 100M gear. The 40 Gbps switching fabric and 29.8 Mpps forwarding rate handle simultaneous multi-device traffic without bottleneck. Fanless metal chassis ensures silent operation in office, lab, or data closet environments. Plug-and-play design — no IP configuration, no web interface, no SNMP — means installation is instant; the switch learns MAC addresses and forwards frames automatically.
Compatibility
The TL-SG108-M2 works with any standard RJ-45 device: IP cameras (4MP and above see throughput benefit), NVRs and network video recorders, 2.5G-class wireless access points requiring backhaul bandwidth, high-speed storage appliances (2.5G NAS), personal workstations, and 2.5G PCIe network interface cards. Cat5e cabling is sufficient — no need to run Cat6 to unlock 2.5G performance. Compatible in small-to-medium cluster deployments feeding a larger managed core switch upstream. Important: This switch provides data connectivity only — it does not include PoE power on any port. Pair with a PoE injector or upstream PoE switch if power delivery to PoE-enabled cameras is required.
Installation Notes
Requires a 12V/1.5A power adapter (included). Operating temperature range 0°C to 40°C; storage temperature -40°C to 70°C. Desktop steel housing supports placement in equipment racks, shelving, or wall mounting via included brackets. All eight ports are live Ethernet connections — no uplink vs. data-port distinction. No configuration required; connect and power on.
