The TP-Link TL-SG105-M2 is a fanless, unmanaged network switch designed for small-scale wiring consolidation in security installations, warehouse automation, and distributed edge environments. Five 2.5 Gigabit RJ45 ports deliver per-port throughput sufficient for simultaneous high-bitrate camera streams or multi-sensor aggregation without bottleneck at the edge. The desktop steel enclosure supports both tabletop and DIN-compatible mounting—useful when consolidating feeds from multiple wireless access points or cameras before trunk lines back to a central NVR. Plug-and-play operation requires no configuration; simply wire and run.
Port Configuration: Five 2.5G RJ45 ports. Each port negotiates independently, allowing heterogeneous speed deployment—older 1G devices coexist without forcing fallback to 1 Gigabit across all ports.
Power and Environment: Desktop form factor with fanless, passively cooled steel chassis. No moving parts means silent operation in network closets or cabinet edges. Operating temperature and power consumption details should be verified against the manufacturer technical datasheet before final rack or outdoor enclosure placement.
Unmanaged Design: No VLAN, QoS, or SNMP features. This is appropriate for flat, trust-boundary-free deployments (e.g., dedicated camera or sensor subnets behind a managed upstream device). For segmented or monitored traffic, place a managed switch upstream or add a PoE injector on individual camera lines if you need per-port power accounting.
If you require VLAN isolation, QoS prioritization, SNMP monitoring, or redundant power supplies for critical surveillance infrastructure, specify a managed gigabit or multi-gig switch from TP-Link's industrial or enterprise line instead. If total port count exceeds five or future expansion is certain, consider an eight- or sixteen-port variant in the same family.
