TP-Link TL-SG105S 5-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch
Overview
The TL-SG105S is a compact, unmanaged gigabit switch that solves the straightforward problem of port shortage in surveillance, access control, and small-office network deployments. Five 10/100/1000 Mbps ports mean no configuration overhead—plug the power adapter, connect your devices, and the switch routes traffic automatically at Layer 2. Deploy it when you need to extend camera runs from a central PoE source, add wired endpoints to a network rack, or consolidate multiple IP devices in a confined space without the complexity of managed VLANs or QoS rules.
Compatibility
The TL-SG105S works transparently with any standard RJ-45 gigabit Ethernet device: TP-Link IP cameras, third-party NVRs, access control systems, wireless access points, and enterprise IP infrastructure. Port negotiation is automatic—each port independently detects 10, 100, or 1000 Mbps, so legacy and modern equipment coexist without manual speed assignment. No drivers, no firmware updates required. Standard gigabit Ethernet is all you need.
Installation Notes
The unit draws AC power via external adapter (110–240V input)—it is not PoE-powered and cannot inject power to downstream devices. If your deployment requires powered cameras or access points, use a dedicated PoE switch or PoE injector upstream. Operating temperature is 0–40°C (32–104°F), suitable for climate-controlled indoor racks and cabinets; not rated for outdoor, unheated, or high-temperature environments. Desktop form factor fits standard 19-inch rack shelves or sits beside networking equipment on a desk or shelf.
