The TP-Link RE220 is a wall-mounted Wi-Fi range extender designed to amplify existing 802.11ac networks in office, warehouse, and facility environments where coverage gaps exist. It operates on dual-band 802.11ac at 750 Mbps total throughput, making it suitable for extending coverage to areas where security cameras, access points, or mobile devices experience weak signal or intermittent disconnection.
Wireless Standard: 802.11ac Dual Band. Data Rate: 750 Mbps combined throughput across both bands — meaningful for maintaining stable connectivity to PoE-powered devices and reducing latency in surveillance or warehouse automation deployments where real-time data is required. Form Factor: Wall-mountable, minimizing footprint constraints in retrofit or space-constrained installations.
Deploy the RE220 between an existing access point and dead zones—corridors, storage areas, or outdoor zones adjacent to facility edges. Wall mounting keeps the device out of floor traffic and simplifies power access. Dual-band operation allows simultaneous 2.4 GHz (longer range, lower speed) and 5 GHz (shorter range, higher speed) extension, letting you assign latency-sensitive devices (cameras, scanners) to 5 GHz while maintaining backward compatibility with older equipment on 2.4 GHz.
As a range extender rather than a dedicated access point, the RE220 shares bandwidth with the originating AP—throughput to clients connected to the extender will be roughly half the advertised rate due to half-duplex operation. This is acceptable for moderate camera streams or warehouse RF scanning, but not for high-bandwidth PoE camera clusters. Position the unit within strong range of the primary AP (typically 30–40 feet line-of-sight) to maximize efficiency.
