Description

TP-Link RE105 300Mbps Wi-Fi Range Extender

Overview

The TP-Link RE105 is a 300Mbps wireless range extender that bridges Wi-Fi dead zones in warehouses, storage facilities, and office environments where your primary access point's signal degrades. It operates on the 2.4GHz band using 802.11n, picking up existing network signal and rebroadcasting it to extend coverage without new infrastructure runs. Suitable for environments where device mobility depends on continuous connectivity but physical wiring is impractical.

Compatibility

The RE105 works with any standard Wi-Fi router or access point supporting 2.4GHz operation — 802.11n, 802.11g, or 802.11b. It is not compatible with 5GHz channels on dual-band routers; verify your primary access point supports 2.4GHz before deployment. Pairing is via WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) or manual SSID/password entry. The extender requires a standard AC outlet; no PoE variant is available.

Installation Notes

Position the RE105 midway between your primary access point and the coverage gap to maximize signal pickup and rebroadcast effectiveness. The 300Mbps throughput rating assumes optimal signal conditions; expect actual throughput to drop 30–50% in the field due to shared airtime between receive and transmit chains — this is a hard limit of single-chain operation, not a performance defect. Mount on a shelf, desk, or wall surface away from metal enclosures and RF-noisy equipment (microwaves, cordless phones, industrial motors). Do not expect full-speed performance at extended range; position accordingly based on your actual throughput requirements.
