Chassis-mount form factor integrates into equipment racks or control enclosures alongside managed switches and PoE systems.
Compatibility
Works with any 1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet port (RJ45) feeding a single-mode SC fiber run. Common deployment scenarios include bridging a primary network switch to a remote building housing wireless access points, IP cameras, or NVRs where copper runs exceed 100m or electromagnetic noise is a concern. Verify your upstream switch supports standard 1000BASE-T output; no special driver or firmware is required.
Installation Notes
Requires single-mode fiber (not multimode). Connect RJ45 from the switch to the MC210CS copper port; attach single-mode fiber (SC) from the converter to your destination equipment. Verify fiber polarity and SC connector cleanliness before mating. The unit draws power via the included switching power adapter—confirm outlet availability at the mounting location. No software configuration needed; the converter operates transparently at Layer 1.
When to Choose a Different Model
If your fiber run is under 100m and you have multimode fiber already in place, consider a multimode variant. If you need managed fiber conversion with SNMP monitoring or alarm relay output, evaluate TP-Link's managed fiber converter line. For runs exceeding 15km, specify an optical amplifier or regenerator in series.
