Description

Middle Atlantic PDT-1620C-NS Vertical Power Distribution Unit

Overview

The PDT-1620C-NS is a low-profile 20-amp vertical power distribution unit designed to solve a specific rack-density problem: fitting 16 switched outlets into a slim 2.13" wide footprint without eating valuable rack U space. At 33.5" long, it runs the full height of a standard equipment bay and delivers power via a 9-foot SignalSafe cord — long enough to reach a dedicated 20A circuit without a extension cord in the way. The 12 AWG cord handles the full 20A load without voltage sag on a loaded rack. This is the right pick when you're mounting audio/video or security gear in a Middle Atlantic rack and need clean vertical power distribution that doesn't compromise horizontal rack real estate.

Compatibility

The PDT-1620C-NS is designed specifically for Middle Atlantic E Series equipment racks. The vertical mount profile and slim 1.82" depth integrate flush along the rack's internal vertical channel without interfering with horizontal equipment. The NEMA 5-20P plug requires a dedicated 20A, 120V receptacle — confirm your circuit breaker and wall outlet are rated 5-20R before ordering; a standard 15A outlet will not accept this plug. Each of the 16 outlets is a standard three-prong configuration suitable for rackmounted AV, networking, and security equipment drawing standard 120V AC.

Installation Notes

Verify your Middle Atlantic E Series rack has the vertical mounting channel clearance for a 2.13" wide strip — consult the rack's internal width spec before ordering. Route the 9-foot cord to a dedicated 20A circuit; sharing with other high-draw loads risks nuisance tripping under full outlet use. The 12 AWG cord is rated for the full 20A draw, but total connected load across all 16 outlets must not exceed 20A (1,920W at 120V) — budget accordingly across attached devices.
