Overview
The STI-1229HTR240 is a NEMA 4X heated dome enclosure designed to protect strobe-only warning appliances in outdoor and harsh environments. It houses the strobe lens behind a clear protective cover that minimizes light loss while shielding the appliance from rain, dust, corrosion, and UV exposure. Mounting centers on the principle of aligning the clear dome section directly over the strobe lens to preserve transmitted light output — critical for audible/visual alarm systems where strobe visibility is non-negotiable.
Compatibility
This enclosure is engineered for strobe-only warning appliances rated Type 4X. Verify your existing strobe appliance carries an outdoor rating before installing outdoors; the enclosure itself meets Type 4X sealing requirements (corrosion-resistant, dust-tight, spray-tight), but the protected device must be rated for the intended environment. Compatible with AMSECO strobe models including SL24W-153075 and colored-lens variants. Confirm your strobe mounting footprint and dimensions match the enclosure cavity before purchase.
Installation Notes
Mount using six pre-drilled holes (3/16 in. diameter, 1 in. deep) into the wall or backbox. Package includes four rawl plugs, six #10 × 1-1/2 in. screws, six #8-32 washers, and an adhesive-backed gasket. Installation must comply with NEC, NFPA 72, and local fire codes. The clear section must be centered over the strobe lens to avoid light transmission loss. If enhanced environmental protection is required (extreme moisture, salt spray, corrosive vapor), order the optional SUB-123 Enviro Kit, which adds additional gasket material and #8-32 × 3/4 in. socket head cap screws. No cutting or modification of the dome is recommended; doing so voids the Type 4X rating.
