Overview
The STI-1229HTR240-HAZ is a Type 4X heated protective dome enclosure sized for strobe-only warning appliances in hazardous or harsh outdoor environments. The 240V heating element prevents condensation and ice buildup on the protective lens, maintaining strobe visibility during freeze-thaw cycles—critical in cold-climate applications where moisture fog or frost would otherwise obscure the light output and defeat the appliance's notification function. Mount it directly over existing strobe units per NFPA 72 code compliance requirements.
Compatibility
Designed for STI strobe appliances and compatible with AMSECO strobe units using the SL24W-153075 mounting pattern and colored-lens variants. The dome fits standard strobe form factors; verify your existing appliance footprint against the exploded-view dimensions (7.87 in. × 7.37 in. height) before ordering. If you need added environmental sealing due to salt spray, moisture exposure, or chemical vapors, the SUB-123 Enviro Kit (gasket and additional fasteners) is sold separately.
Installation Notes
Mount using the six provided #3/16 in. (4.7 mm) diameter holes drilled 1 in. (25 mm) deep into solid backing. Install the rawl plugs (4 provided) and spacer assembly to center the clear protective lens directly over the strobe light—off-center alignment reduces light transmission. The 240V heating circuit powers automatically in sub-freezing conditions; wire per local electrical code and NEC requirements. No additional tools beyond a standard drill and hex wrench needed for assembly. Comply with applicable NEC, NFPA 72, and local hazardous-location codes before energizing.
