STI STI-1229-HAZ Stopper Dome for Strobe Only Enclosed Back Box
Overview
The STI-1229-HAZ is a protective dome assembly for STI strobe appliances, rated NEMA 4X for outdoor deployment. The enclosed back box design shields the strobe's rear components from weather and vandalism while the clear dome face allows light transmission to the warning signal. Installs directly over the strobe lens with a centered optical axis to prevent light loss — critical for alarm panel visibility across distances.
Compatibility
Designed for STI strobe-only installations. Compatible with AMSECO colored lens kits (SL24W-153075 series at 22% optical transmission) if additional light filtering is required. The dome mounts using six #10 x 1-1/2 inch screws (provided) to any wall or ceiling surface via the enclosed back box footprint. Verify existing strobe model is rated for outdoor use before deploying the STI-1229-HAZ outdoors.
Installation Notes
Mount the dome per NFPA 72 code compliance. Position the clear dome section centered directly over the strobe lens to maintain full light output — off-center mounting degrades transmission and detection range. Drill six holes 3/16 inch diameter, 1 inch deep into the mounting surface and insert provided Rawl plugs. For outdoor environments with moisture or temperature cycling, order the SUB-123 Enviro Kit separately — includes six additional #8-32 x 3/4 inch socket head cap screws and adhesive-backed gaskets to seal the conduit entry and spacer gaps against water infiltration. If strobe mounting requires additional environmental sealing, the optional conduit sealing gasket and plastic insert are supplied with the Enviro Kit.
