Overview
The STI-1229HTR-HAZ is a heated dome enclosure designed to protect strobe warning appliances in outdoor hazardous locations. It maintains strobe visibility while defending against environmental exposure—critical in Class I or Class II hazardous areas where standard enclosures cannot be used. The unit ships with a clear polycarbonate dome to maximize light transmission from the strobe lens, neoprene gasket seals for weather resistance, and mounting hardware. The 24VDC heating circuit prevents condensation buildup that would otherwise degrade optical clarity and strobe performance in thermal shock conditions (outdoor temperature swings).
Compatibility
The STI-1229HTR-HAZ accommodates standard strobe warning appliances that mount to the included STI-1215 spacer assembly. Compatible with AMSECO strobe models using the SL24W-153075 connector footprint and colored lens options. The enclosure mounts to existing warning appliance installations per NFPA 72 code requirements. Verify strobe lens diameter and mounting surface before ordering—the clear dome section must center over the strobe light lens to avoid light transmission loss.
Installation Notes
Mount using the provided template and rawl plugs (4x) into the existing installation surface; drill six 3/16-inch (4.7mm) holes, 1 inch (25mm) deep. Install the gasket between cover and spacer to seal against moisture. The dome must comply with applicable NEC, NFPA, and local electrical codes for hazardous location classification. If additional environmental protection is required (salt spray, caustic vapor, heavy corrosion), order the optional SUB-123 Enviro Kit separately—it adds supplemental neoprene seals and corrosion-resistant fasteners. Position the clear dome section centered over the strobe lens; misalignment reduces light output. The 24VDC heating supply must be wired through a dedicated branch circuit rated for intermittent load.
