Overview
The STI-1227 is a clear polycarbonate protective dome designed to shield strobe appliances installed in open back electrical boxes. This accessory mounts directly over existing warning strobes and is built to work with standard strobe-only installations where the back box is accessible. The dome protects the strobe lens from dust, moisture, and physical contact while maintaining optical clarity — critical because light transmission loss directly affects visible range and alarm effectiveness.
Compatibility
The STI-1227 pairs with strobe appliances installed in open back boxes and compatible with AMSECO series strobe accessories (such as models cross-referenced to SL24W-153075). Verify your strobe model carries an outdoor rating before deploying the STI-1227 outdoors; the dome itself is NEMA 4 rated, but the underlying strobe must meet the same environmental standard. The dome works with standard #10 and #8-32 mounting hardware provided in the kit.
Installation Notes
Centering the clear lens section directly over the strobe light lens is mandatory — misalignment causes measurable light loss that degrades signal visibility. Drill six 3/16-inch (4.7mm) holes, 1 inch (25mm) deep, using the provided rawl plugs as anchors. The STI-1227 must comply with applicable NEC, NFPA 72, and local electrical codes during installation. For environments with high moisture, salt spray, or chemical exposure, order the optional SUB-123 Enviro Kit, which adds gasket sealing and stainless hardware. Mount the spacer (STI-1212) between the mounting surface and dome cover to create airflow and prevent condensation buildup.
