STI NT-SS002-FR Contactless Stainless Steel Switch
Overview
The NT-SS002-FR is a hands-free infrared-triggered exit switch built around STI's NoTouch® technology. Medical-grade 304 stainless steel faceplate and 1.5mm heavy-duty backbox eliminate cross-contamination risk in public facilities — hospitals, healthcare clinics, high-traffic corridors, and food-service areas where frequent door contact is a vector for infection spread. The slim/mullion mount configuration with integrated back box fits standard retrofit installations on existing door frames in minutes, with minimal site modification. Operates on 12VDC, integrating directly into legacy and modern access control systems without voltage conversion.
Compatibility
The NT-SS002-FR pairs with any 12VDC access control output: electronic strike plates, magnetic locks, door release solenoids, and integrated access control panels that source 12VDC and expect a dry-contact relay closure. The Form C dry contact (0.5A @ 120VAC, 1A @ 24VDC) handles standard electromagnetic lock and strike duty cycles. For systems running higher voltage, confirm your strike/maglock supports 12VDC signaling, or consult your control panel documentation for relay isolation requirements. Stainless steel construction is compatible with both interior and exterior environments where moisture and corrosion resistance matter.
Installation Notes
Operating temperature range is 14°F to 158°F (−10°C to 70°C) — validate against your climate or seasonal extremes. Detection range is adjustable 1.5 to 6 inches (4–15 cm, ±25%) — account for override switches, vestibule depth, and traffic flow to avoid nuisance triggers. IR sensor design requires line-of-sight to the user's hand; mounting behind glass or reflective surfaces reduces range. Adjustable relay latch time (0.5–20 seconds) configures door-hold duration; coordinate with your access system's unlock pulse width. IP65 rating protects against direct spray and dust ingress but not submersion — confirm mounting location avoids sustained water jets.
