The Comnet FDC10M1A is a bi-directional contact closure transceiver that converts dry relay signals into fiber-optic signals and back — solving the core problem of transmitting alarm, trigger, and relay control data over long distances without running copper pairs. Deploy this when you need to send contact closure state (alarm sensors, relay outputs, gate triggers) across a fiber backbone spanning up to 69 km without signal degradation or ground-loop noise. The FDC10M1A carries 2 contact closure channels per direction over a single multimode fiber, making it ideal for remote surveillance sites, distributed access control, and fence-line or perimeter installations where fiber is already in place or cost-effective to run.
The FDC10M1A pairs with any surveillance or access control system that outputs dry relay contacts or expects relay input — NVRs with alarm ports, IP camera systems with relay outputs for gate/door control, access control panels, or building management systems. The transceiver uses standard ST optical connectors on the fiber side and terminal block connectors on the contact side, so integration works with existing terminal-block-equipped control panels and relay boards. Multimode fiber (62.5/125µm or 50/125µm) is required; confirm your fiber plant matches before ordering. The recommended power supply is the Comnet PS-A12060 (12VDC, 600mA).
Operating voltage range 8–15 VDC ensures compatibility with standard 12V industrial power supplies; power consumption is negligible at 2W max. Response time of 0.5 msec is fast enough for real-time alarm and relay triggering. The transceiver operates reliably from -40°C to +75°C, covering outdoor and unheated building environments. Mount the surface-mount unit (4.0 x 3.7 x 1.0 inches) in an equipment enclosure or use the optional Comfit housing (6.1 x 5.3 x 1.1 inches) for DIN-rail or wall mounting. Optical power budget of 23 dB handles typical fiber runs with acceptable margins; verify link loss calculations for distances beyond 50 km or in systems with multiple splitters. Terminal block connectors accept 18–12 AWG wire — standard for relay and alarm circuits.
