Overview

The Comnet FDC10RM1A is a bi-directional contact closure transceiver that extends relay signals and discrete inputs/outputs up to 69 km over a single multimode fiber strand. It's built to move alarm relay contacts, sensor triggers, and control signals across long-distance surveillance networks where copper runs are impractical — typical use: extending perimeter alarm contacts from a remote gate house back to a central security hub, or relaying door strike commands from an access control panel across a campus or industrial site without dedicated wiring.

The unit accepts 8–15 VDC input power, draws 2W max, and delivers 30 VDC @ 0.5 A at the relay output — enough to drive standard door strikes, siren activators, or integrating alarm panels. Optical link uses 1310/1550 nm bidirectional transmission over ST connectors. Response time is 0.5 milliseconds — fast enough for real-time interlock and fail-safe door control without perceptible lag.

Compatibility

The FDC10RM1A pairs with any contact closure input or alarm relay output from industrial access control panels, intercom systems, and CCTV alarm modules — as long as the contact or relay terminal block accepts screw-down wiring. No protocol overhead; it's a transparent electrical pass-through. Recommend powering via the Comnet PS-A12060 12V DC power supply, sized for extended outdoor runs where voltage drop is a factor.
