The FDC10M1B is a small-form fiber optic contact closure transceiver designed to transmit relay contacts and alarm signals over single-strand multimode fiber spans up to 69 km. Deploy this where you need to extend dry-contact outputs (alarm triggers, relay states, gate access signals) from remote surveillance or access-control equipment back to a central panel without running copper conduit or worrying about electrical noise. The 1310/1550 nm wavelength configuration on each end means you can run two separate logical channels on a single fiber strand—useful in bandwidth-constrained distributed surveillance networks.
The FDC10M1B pairs with any surveillance system, access-control panel, or industrial controller that outputs a dry-contact relay signal and has fiber connectivity. Common pairings include Comnet's own fiber video transceiver line (link the fiber video transceivers to the same backbone fiber), DVRs with opto-isolated relay outputs, and IP intercom systems with contact-closure alert outputs. The terminal-block connectors accept standard 22–14 AWG wire. Multimode fiber with ST connectors is the transport—confirm your fiber infrastructure uses matching connectors and supports the 1310/1550 nm wavelengths before ordering.
Operating voltage range is 8–15 VDC; recommended power supply is the Comnet PS-A12060 (12V, 6A). Power consumption is 2W maximum per unit. Relay output is rated 30 VDC at 0.5 amp—sufficient for triggering solenoids, buzzers, or secondary relay coils, but verify your load impedance doesn't exceed the contact rating. Response time is 0.5 milliseconds—fast enough for alarm propagation in real-time surveillance workflows. The unit operates from −40°C to +75°C; temperature extremes common in unheated telecom shelters or outdoor weatherproof boxes are within spec. Pair transceivers in A/B configuration: one end transmits on 1310 nm and listens on 1550 nm; the other reverses the wavelengths. Verify fiber polarity and connector seating—loose ST connectors are the most common field failure on these devices.
