Overview

The SN-Z02 is a compact, rack-mountable temperature sensor from Vertiv's Vertiv sensor line designed to feed real-time thermal data into data center and network room monitoring systems. The SN-Z02 integrates three discrete temperature measurement points into a single small-footprint device — useful wherever a single probe would leave blind spots, such as across a high-density rack or within a hot-aisle containment zone. Power is drawn directly through the communications cable, eliminating the need for a separate power supply or outlet allocation. This sensor is purpose-built for environments running environmental monitoring infrastructure, not as a standalone general-purpose thermometer.

Compatibility

The SN-Z02 integrates directly with Vertiv Unity and Vertiv RPC2 management platforms. If your infrastructure does not include Unity or RPC2 as the monitoring head-end, this sensor will not have a native integration path — confirm your management system before ordering. It is not documented as compatible with third-party DCIM platforms or SNMP managers without a Unity or RPC2 intermediary. For deployments already running Vertiv monitoring hardware, the SN-Z02 drops in as an extension of the existing sensor network without additional software licensing.

Installation Notes

Mounting is accomplished via the supplied bracket or cable tie — no tools or custom hardware required. The 1.625 in H × 2 in W × 0.75 in D footprint fits within a standard 1U rack space or can be tie-mounted to a vertical rail or cable management arm. Operating environment is rated 41°F to 131°F (5°C to 55°C) — suitable for conditioned data center and network closet environments, but not for uncontrolled outdoor or industrial spaces. The sensor weighs 0.25 lb, so cable-tie mounting is structurally adequate without risk of sag or pull-out under normal conditions. Ensure the communications cable run to the Unity or RPC2 controller is within supported distance limits per your Vertiv system documentation.
