Overview
The Vertiv SN-Z03 is a compact environmental monitoring sensor that combines three independent temperature inputs with a single humidity measurement in one bus-connected unit — purpose-built for server room and data center cabinet monitoring. It draws power directly through its communications cable, meaning no separate power supply or additional wiring runs are needed at the sensor location. SN-Z03 integrates natively with Vertiv Unity and RPC2 management platforms, making it the correct sensor for facilities already running that infrastructure. If you're deploying environmental monitoring across multiple rack positions, the three discrete temperature points per unit let you track hot-aisle, cold-aisle, and intake temperatures from a single sensor node rather than deploying multiple single-point units.
Compatibility
The SN-Z03 is designed for direct integration with Vertiv Unity intelligent PDUs and RPC2 remote power controllers. It communicates and powers through the sensor bus cable common to those platforms. It is not a standalone SNMP device and does not operate without a compatible Unity or RPC2 host — confirm your existing management unit supports the sensor bus before ordering. For deployments outside Vertiv Unity or RPC2 ecosystems, this sensor is not the right fit; consider a network management card with open-protocol sensor ports instead.
Installation Notes
Mounts via the supplied bracket or cable tie — no tools required for a cable-tie installation. Physical footprint is 2" W × 1.625" H × 0.75" D and weighs 0.25 lb, so it fits in tight 1U spaces or along a rack rail without occupying a full rack unit. Operating environment is 41°F to 131°F (5°C to 55°C) with 10–95% relative humidity (non-condensing) — standard for rack accessories deployed inside conditioned data center spaces. Power is supplied entirely through the communications cable; no local power tap is needed. Consult your Unity or RPC2 documentation for maximum sensor chain length and bus loading limits before daisy-chaining multiple SN-Z03 units on a single port.
