Description

Middle Atlantic PD-815R-PL 1U Rackmount Power Distribution Unit

Overview

The Middle Atlantic PD-815R-PL is a 1U rackmount PDU designed for security equipment racks, AV enclosures, and IT cabinets where you need clean, protected AC distribution without burning a full rack unit on each device. It delivers 8 rear-facing NEMA 5-15R outlets at 120V/15A — enough capacity for a typical mix of NVRs, PoE injectors, managed switches, and encoders in a single bay. The rear outlet placement keeps cabling organized and away from front-panel access points, which matters in high-density racks. A front-panel LED confirms circuit status at a glance so you know at rack-close whether power is live before buttoning everything up. ETL listing confirms the unit meets UL safety standards — a requirement on many commercial and government job sites. The steel chassis with black powder coat finish is built to rackmount power distribution standards rather than consumer-grade strip construction. Pair this with a Middle Atlantic rack enclosure or any standard 19-inch EIA rack for a clean, integrated install.

Compatibility

Fits any standard 19-inch EIA rack with 1U clearance. The NEMA 5-15P input plug connects to any standard 15A wall circuit or UPS output — compatible with UPS units that provide a standard 5-15R or 5-20R receptacle. The 8 rear NEMA 5-15R outlets accommodate any device drawing up to the 15A total circuit limit — typical loads include NVRs, network switches, IP video encoders, access control panels, and intercom head-end equipment. Not rated for 20A devices or for three-phase or international (non-120V) circuits. The 9ft cord gives enough reach for wall-mounted or floor-standing rack placements without an extension.

Installation Notes

Mounts in 1U of a standard 19-inch rack — confirm 1.75 inches of vertical clearance before ordering if your rack is near capacity. The 15A circuit breaker is the only overload protection; load calculation is the installer's responsibility — total connected load must stay under 15A or the breaker will trip. Basic surge suppression and EMI filtering are included but this is not a full power conditioning unit; for sensitive analog or RF equipment with strict noise floors, evaluate whether a dedicated power conditioner is warranted. No IEC outlets — all outlets are NEMA 5-15R, so IEC-cordset devices will need plug adapters not included.
