Middle Atlantic PD-915R-PL 1U Rackmount Power Strip with Surge Protection
Overview
The Middle Atlantic PD-915R-PL is a 1U rackmount power distribution unit delivering 120V AC at 15A across nine NEMA 5-15R outlets — eight rear-facing for permanent device wiring and one front-facing for temporary connections or test equipment. The pilot light gives you an instant visual confirmation of live status without opening a cabinet door, which matters in dense racks where tracing a dead outlet wastes time. A 9-foot power cord provides enough reach for floor-mounted PDUs to overhead circuits without an extension. Surge protection is rated at 30,000A peak (one-time event) or 21,000A across two events within five minutes — adequate for incidental voltage transients on commercial circuits. UL Listed (E204950) and EIA/TIA compliant, so it meets standard rack documentation requirements for enterprise and commercial AV/security deployments.
Compatibility
The PD-915R-PL installs in any standard EIA/TIA 19-inch equipment rack — including Middle Atlantic's own RK, ERK, and BGR rack series, as well as third-party 19-inch enclosures from Belden, Legrand, Chatsworth, and comparable manufacturers. The NEMA 5-15R outlets accept standard North American three-prong plugs, making it compatible with the full range of Middle Atlantic rack-mount equipment, NVRs, PoE switches, access control panels, encoders, and other rackmount power distribution loads drawing up to 15A total. It is not rated for 20A circuits or international voltages — if your NVR or switch draws more than 15A combined, step up to Middle Atlantic's 20A PD-series variants. For rackmount accessory planning in high-density AV or security racks, pair with a dedicated UPS upstream to extend the surge protection with battery backup.
Installation Notes
The PD-915R-PL mounts in 1U of rack space with standard rack hardware. The brushed, anodized black finish is cosmetic — it does not affect grounding. Surge protection on this unit is sacrificial (one-time at 30,000A peak); after a significant surge event, replace the unit rather than assume continued protection. The 15A NEMA 5-15P input plug requires a matching 15A or 20A NEMA 5-15R or 5-20R wall or PDU outlet — do not use on a 20A NEMA L5-20 twist-lock circuit without the correct adapter.
