Overview
The Middle Atlantic PD-815SC-20 is a 15A, 8-outlet slim vertical rack power distribution strip built for AV and security equipment racks where horizontal space is premium. At 1.18 inches wide and 18.6 inches tall, it mounts vertically in the rack's side channel or unused bay — freeing up rack units for active gear rather than consuming them. The 20-foot power cord handles longer cable runs to wall receptacles in larger rack enclosures, eliminating the extension cords that create messy, code-problematic installs. MOV surge and spike protection plus integrated EMI filtering guard downstream equipment from line noise and transient events — relevant in any install sharing a panel with HVAC, motors, or other inductive loads. The 15A circuit breaker provides local overcurrent protection without requiring a panel trip to reset. Part of the Middle Atlantic PD Slim High-Density series, the PD-815SC-20 ships in black anodized finish to match standard rack interiors.
Compatibility
Fits any standard EIA-310 equipment rack that accepts vertical power strip mounting — including Middle Atlantic's own rack enclosures (ERK, BGR, BRK, and LD series), as well as third-party racks with side-channel accessory mounting. Each of the 8 NEMA 5-15R outlets accepts standard 15A North American plugs, making it compatible with virtually any NVR, network switch, encoder, or AV receiver with a standard power cord. Input is NEMA 5-15P (standard 3-prong 15A), so it connects directly to any standard 120V AC 15A wall or PDU receptacle. For installations requiring higher-current power distribution or 20A circuits, evaluate Middle Atlantic's 20A PD variants instead — mixing 15A strips on 20A circuits is code-permissible but the 15A breaker here will still limit the strip's total load.
Installation Notes
Total load across all 8 outlets must not exceed 15A (1,800W at 120V) — the integrated circuit breaker will trip at that threshold. The 20ft cord should be routed and secured to prevent strain on the NEMA 5-15P plug; avoid sharp bends near the connector.
