Overview
The Middle Atlantic PD-815SC-NS is an 8-outlet, 15-amp slim vertical rack power distribution unit from the Select Series PD Slim High Density line. At 18.6 in tall and only 1.78 in deep, it fits inside standard rack enclosures without consuming a dedicated rack unit of horizontal space — the right call when a rack is already dense with patch panels, switches, or NVR chassis and you need clean power distribution without sacrificing 1U of usable space. The 10 ft power cord reaches floor-mounted or mid-rack PDPs without extension cords, and the NEMA 5-15P input plug works with any standard 15A branch circuit. SignalSAFE cable construction is included — this matters in AV and security racks where AC wiring routed near signal cables can induce noise on video or audio runs. No surge protection is built in; if transient suppression is a requirement, that belongs upstream at the UPS or branch circuit level.
Compatibility
The PD-815SC-NS is designed for vertical mounting inside Middle Atlantic rack enclosures and open-frame racks that accept side-mount or vertical PDU hardware. The slim 1.78 in depth profile fits inside standard Middle Atlantic BGR, ERK, and WRK series enclosures without conflicting with rear door clearance. It is equally usable in third-party 19-inch racks where a vertical channel mount is available. The 8 NEMA 5-15R outlets accept standard 3-prong 15A plugs — compatible with the power supplies typical of IP cameras, NVR units, PoE injectors, and AV signal processors commonly installed in rack accessory bays. The 15A single-circuit capacity is appropriate for low-to-mid-density loads; verify that the connected equipment's total draw stays within 80% of circuit capacity (12A continuous) per NEC guidelines.
Installation Notes
Mount vertically inside the rack enclosure using Middle Atlantic's vertical PDU mounting channel or equivalent hardware — the unit does not include mounting brackets and attaches via the rack's integrated PDU mounting system. Route the 10 ft cord to a dedicated 15A receptacle; do not daisy-chain to another power strip. SignalSAFE cable is specified for noise-sensitive installs — route AC cord away from low-voltage signal cabling where possible, but the cable construction provides an additional margin against induced interference in tight runs.
