Description

ATEN CE611 Mini USB DVI HDBaseT KVM Extender

Overview

The CE611 is a compact HDBaseT KVM extender that pushes DVI video, USB keyboard, and mouse signals up to 100m over a single Cat 6 or Cat 6a cable — eliminating the need to co-locate a workstation with its display in rack-dense or secure environments. The CE611 receiver unit (CE611R) connects to the remote console end, receiving the signal over a standard RJ-45 connection and outputting DVI video at resolutions up to 1920x1200. This is a point-to-point extension solution suited for control rooms, server rooms, and AV installations where the operator console must sit far from the source equipment.

Compatibility

The CE611R receiver pairs with the CE611 transmitter unit (sold as a system or separately). Cable compatibility directly affects maximum reach: Cat 5e supports up to 1600x1200 and 1920x1200 at 90m, or 1920x1080 at 100m. Cat 6, Cat 6a, or ATEN 2L-2910 Cat 6 extends the full 1920x1200 signal to 100m. Use Cat 6 or better if you need full 1920x1200 resolution at maximum distance — Cat 5e will not get you there at 100m. DVI video output is via the orange-coded connector on the receiver. Firmware upgrades are handled via the onboard slide switch, so no software tool is required for field updates.

Installation Notes

Operating humidity must stay within 0–80% RH non-condensing — standard for indoor rack and wall-mount environments, but worth confirming in unconditioned spaces like warehouse AV closets. The CE611 follows ATEN's rack-mount dimensional convention: physical dimensions are expressed as LxWxH rather than the standard WxDxH — account for this when verifying rack clearance. Cable selection is the single biggest installation variable: spec Cat 6 or Cat 6a from the start if full 1920x1200 at distance is a requirement.
