Description

Honeywell LTEM-PIV Verizon LTE Dual-Path Fire Communicator

Overview

The LTEM-PIV is a cellular and internet communicator module designed for Honeywell VISTA control panels, delivering alarm signals to AlarmNet monitoring stations via Verizon LTE CAT-M1 as primary or backup path. It solves the critical deployment problem of ensuring fire, burglary, and system status messages reach the central station even when broadband fails — a non-negotiable requirement in commercial fire alarm installations where single-path internet communication creates liability risk. The module mounts behind your control panel and connects via Ethernet or proprietary bus protocols, eliminating the need for a separate external gateway.

Compatibility

The LTEM-PIV works exclusively with Honeywell VISTA control panel series (check your panel's ECP or Bus port documentation to confirm). It supports both internet-connected and offline messaging paths: Ethernet for primary IP routing, with Verizon LTE CAT-M1 as automatic failover when broadband drops. Integrates with Resideo Total Connect 2.0 remote services, allowing end-user web and mobile access to arm/disarm and view system status. CAT-M1 coverage matches Verizon's current LTE footprint — verify reception at your site before final procurement, especially in underground or steel-framed structures (CAT-M1 penetration is superior to standard LTE but not guaranteed everywhere).

Installation Notes

Connects via Ethernet cable to your network gateway or directly to the VISTA panel's IP port. Powered by a supplied 9VDC adapter — do not substitute or daisy-chain without calculating current draw on your power budget. Supports dynamic or static IP addressing and operates behind firewalls without manual port forwarding (outbound HTTPS only). Mounting location should provide minimal radio obstruction to Verizon towers; interior placement degrades signal strength. UL 985 certification means it meets household and commercial fire alarm reporting standards for dual-path transmission — do not rely on internet-only mode in fire-rated installations.
