Overview

The GV-LPR-55 is a software-based license plate recognition (LPR) and DVR solution designed for parking lot, gate, and access control deployments where you need real-time plate detection, recognition, and video recording without dedicated external LPR hardware. The USB 2-lane architecture processes simultaneous plate captures from two traffic lanes or entry points—typical for toll booths, parking entries, or multi-lane vehicle checkpoints. Runs on Windows-based PCs or DVR appliances, reducing deployment footprint compared to standalone LPR boxes.

Compatibility

The GV-LPR-55 integrates with Geovision's GV-ASManager access control system and works with multiple LPR capture sources: Edge GV-IP LPR cameras, GV-DSP LPR devices, or PC-based GV-NVR/VMS systems. Supports up to 255 LPR devices, up to 8 recognition channels per NVR/VMS instance, and up to 100 Web browser connections. Operates on 64-bit Windows 10, Windows 11, Windows Server 2016, Server 2019, or Server 2022. Requires minimum 8 GB RAM (16 GB recommended) and Graphics PCI-Express processor with 1280 x 1024 display support and DirectX 10 compatibility. Output video formats are compatible with standard surveillance codecs (H.265 and H.264) for VMS archive and third-party integration.

Installation Notes

Install on a dedicated Windows PC or DVR server with available USB ports for the 2-lane USB dongle connection. Verify DirectX 10 graphics capability and minimum RAM allocation before deployment. The software supports up to 100,000 vehicle records in its database and integrates vehicle hotlists (stolen or watchlist vehicles) with GV-ASManager for automatic gate/light control and alarm triggers on match. Event-driven recording activates on LPR detection, reducing storage overhead compared to 24/7 recording.
