The Geovision 84-HLPRCM5-0010 is a 1.3-megapixel IP license plate recognition camera paired with a motorized 3–9mm varifocal lens. This solves the field-of-view problem at gate entries, parking lot exits, and toll booths where focal length must be adjusted after mount without a service call. The 1.3MP resolution is deliberately constrained for LPR workloads—higher pixel counts waste storage and bandwidth on background detail that license plate OCR ignores. The motorized lens allows remote focus and zoom adjustment, critical when initial site surveys underestimate required coverage or when seasonal sun angles shift plate glare across your capture zone.
The 84-HLPRCM5-0010 integrates with Geovision NVR systems and third-party VMS platforms supporting ONVIF IP camera streams (Profile S and T). Verify your VMS driver library includes support for this model before deployment—some systems restrict concurrent IP camera connections by megapixel class or require vendor-specific plug-ins. Power delivery via standard PoE (802.3af) eliminates the need for a separate power supply, but motorized lens control requires 24VAC auxiliary power wired to the camera's motor terminals. Do not omit the 24VAC connection; the lens will not focus or zoom without it. Confirm your network switch has available PoE budget and that your VMS licensing seats allow additional IP camera channels.
Mount the camera at a 15–30-degree downward angle toward plate height for optimal character legibility. Horizontal or upward-facing orientations degrade recognition accuracy. Bandwidth consumption is roughly 1–1.5 Mbps per stream at typical LPR frame rates (10–15 fps), depending on compression codec selected in the NVR. Plan network capacity for sustained multi-camera LPR deployments; edge storage or local motion-triggered recording can reduce NVR throughput demand. The motorized lens requires a separate 24VAC power supply—standard PoE will not drive the motor.
