The Geovision GV-DSP is a fanless, non-PC-based Linux appliance designed for single-port license plate recognition (LPR) at traffic checkpoints or mobile deployments. It captures live video, processes plate recognition triggered by motion detection or sensor input, and streams results to Geovision LPR System or LPR Center. The compact form factor (4.84 × 4.17 × 0.98 inches) fits rack mount environments or mobile installations where power consumption and thermal footprint matter. JPEG compression and live resolutions up to D1 (NTSC) or PAL frame rates provide recognition-grade clarity without excessive bandwidth — important when integrating with remote management systems or cellular backhaul (UMTS support is built in).
The GV-DSP integrates directly with Geovision GV-LPR System and GV-LPR Center software suites. Recognition results, captured images, and live video streams are compatible with third-party systems via OCX SDK, allowing integrators to embed LPR functionality into custom VMS workflows. Motion detection and sensor input triggering eliminate unnecessary processing — the unit only captures and recognizes plates when movement or external relay signals activate the engine.
Operating temperature range of −20 to 55°C (−4 to 131°F) supports outdoor traffic installations without climate-controlled enclosures. Single BNC video input and BNC TV-out connectors require standard coaxial cabling. Two digital inputs and two digital outputs enable sensor integration (loop detectors, relay triggers from traffic lights, or barrier gates). Ethernet 10/100Base-T carries recognition data; GPS via RS-232 provides timestamp accuracy for toll or enforcement logs. Micro-SD/SDHC card slot (Class 6 or higher) enables local video buffering — critical when WAN connectivity is intermittent. Web-based configuration and firmware upgrade reduce on-site support overhead; no separate terminal access or command-line tools required. IP address filtering provides basic network security without external firewall dependency.
