Resin

Full resin thermal transfer ribbons produce the most durable thermal print, resisting chemicals, solvents, abrasion, UV, and extreme temperatures. They are the ribbon class required for synthetic facestocks in demanding industrial, medical, and outdoor asset labeling.

Plan Your Deployment

  • Synthetic facestock compatibility (polyester, polyimide, polyolefin)
  • Core ID, width, and length for the target printer family
  • Printhead compatibility at required print speeds
  • Target exposure: solvents, UV, autoclave, underhood heat
  • Cost per label in regulated or long-service-life programs

What to Look For

Resin requires more printhead energy than wax or wax-resin and can be slower at equivalent print speed. Validate that the printer firmware has a resin-specific print profile. Confirm ribbon and facestock combination against exposure targets (MEK rub, ASTM UV, autoclave cycles).

Common Deployment Scenarios

Full resin is used for lab specimen labels, outdoor asset marking, under-hood automotive tags, electronics identification, and any label that must survive extended field service. Expect a higher cost per label compared to wax-resin; the durability gain justifies it for the right applications.
