Questions about this product? Free pre-sales support from a senior specialist — product questions, compatibility checks, BOM quotes, price confirmation — typically answered within one business day. Need camera placement or system design work? Engineering time is $175 per hour (qty 1 = 1 hour). Hardware buyers get up to one hour ($175) credited back on their order.
The CNGE22MC is a two-channel 10/100/1000 Mbps electrical-to-optical media converter built for surveillance system backbone deployments where you need to extend camera and control-system reach across fiber runs without protocol conversion or active management. Each channel handles full-duplex Gigabit traffic, accepting 10/100/1000 BASE-TX copper input and outputting 1000 BASE-FX via hot-swappable SFP modules — letting you choose fiber type, connector, and distance (up to 120 km with appropriate SFPs) independent of the converter hardware itself.
The dual-channel architecture means you can run two separate camera feeds or a camera plus control circuit (intercom, access control, VoIP) over a single fiber pair, reducing conduit runs in buildings with existing fiber backbone infrastructure. The CNGE22MC ships in the standard ComNet ComFit enclosure and supports wall, rack, and DIN-rail mounting — common in security cabinets and network closets. Auto-negotiation on the copper port eliminates manual speed/duplex configuration; LED indicators confirm link status and traffic activity on each channel. Operating range of −40 to +75°C covers outdoor cabinets and unheated transmission rooms. Power draw is 11W from the included 8–15VDC supply, light enough for battery backup or PoE-powered cage installations if you use a PoE-to-DC injector on the input side.
The CNGE22MC is SFP-agnostic — it does not include optical modules; you install ComNet SFP transceivers separately to match your fiber plant. This design supports multi-vendor fiber infrastructure: single-mode (SM) or multimode (MM) fiber, LC, SC, ST, or MT-RJ connectors, and transmission distances from <100m (MM) to 120km (SM). Compatible with any surveillance system that runs standard Gigabit Ethernet frames — IP cameras, NVRs, VMS appliances, access control panels, and industrial PoE switches. Commonly deployed in front of managed Ethernet switches to extend PoE budget or isolate noisy industrial circuits from the main network. Works in parallel with existing copper runs; does not require firmware updates or VMS integration.
Verify your 8–15VDC power supply is clean and fused at the breaker; 11W draw is steady but any DC ripple >2V may cause link instability on the copper ports. Install SFP modules before powering up and ensure dust caps remain on unused fiber connectors to prevent coupling contamination. The CNGE22MC shares the same mounting footprint as the single-channel CNGE2MC, so existing DIN-rail clips will fit both. In high-RF environments (broadcast towers, cellular sites), route the copper cabling separately from antenna leads by at least 6 inches to avoid burst susceptibility on the copper side.
