Description

Comnet CNMC2SFP Dual 10/100/1000 Mbps Media Converter

Overview

The Comnet CNMC2SFP is a dual-port Ethernet-to-fiber media converter that bridges copper and optical networks at 10/100/1000 Mbps. It converts electrical 10/100/1000 Mbps signals to optical 100 FX or 1000 FX (selected via DIP switch) and back again—solving the core problem of long-distance cable runs and electrical noise in surveillance installations. Each unit accepts standard Comnet SFP modules (sold separately), letting you select fiber type, connector, and transmission distance up to 120 km. The ComFit form factor is compact: 15.5 × 13.5 × 2.8 cm, <0.9 kg, and mounts in standard rack spaces or on a wall.

Compatibility

The CNMC2SFP works with any Ethernet-based surveillance network requiring fiber extension. It integrates with NVR systems, PoE switches, and IP camera deployments where copper runs exceed safe distances or electrical isolation is needed. The dual RJ45 ports accept standard 10/100/1000 BASE-TX equipment; SFP slots accept Comnet optical modules for single-mode or multimode fiber, with connector types (SC, ST, LC) selected per your installation. Auto-negotiation on the copper port and MDI/MDI-X automatic crossover ensure plug-and-play pairing with most industrial and commercial network gear.

Installation Notes

Power: 9–24 VDC @ 200 mA max or 24 VAC @ 200 mA max; draws only 5 W—integrate with existing industrial power supplies or PoE injectors. LED indicators on the front provide real-time link and activity status. Operating temperature range of −40 °C to +75 °C (−40 °F to +167 °F) handles outdoor cabinet and harsh warehouse deployments. No configuration required beyond DIP switch selection for 100 FX or 1000 FX mode. Requires purchase of appropriate Comnet SFP modules (fiber type and distance rating) as a separate line item—converter chassis does not include optical modules.
