Description

Comnet CNMCSFP Industrial Multi-Rate Media Converter

Overview

The Comnet CNMCSFP is a compact 10/100/1000 Mbps media converter designed for long-distance copper-to-fiber links in surveillance and industrial networks. It bridges a single RJ45 copper port to a hot-swappable SFP module socket, supporting either 100FX or 1000FX fiber optics — choose the module that matches your distance and bandwidth requirement. Powered by 48–57 VDC (standard PoE or dedicated supply), it draws 35W and fits the ComFit industrial form factor, making it a drop-in accessory for distributed camera sites, ring topologies, or backbone runs where EMI immunity and long-distance reach matter.

Compatibility

The CNMCSFP integrates with any IP surveillance system or industrial Ethernet network running standard 1000 Mbps copper infrastructure. It works downstream of PoE switches, PoE injectors, or dedicated 48–57 VDC power supplies (Comnet recommends the PS-A12060). The RJ45 port accepts standard UTP cabling; the SFP slot accepts third-party 100FX or 1000FX modules. No vendor lock-in — SFP optics from any IEEE 802.3-compliant source will mate with the unit. Typical deployments: remote camera clusters fed through a single pair of fiber strands, fiber-based ring networks for redundancy, or backbone links crossing industrial areas prone to electrical noise.

Installation Notes

Mount the CNMCSFP in an equipment cabinet or DIN-rail enclosure (ComFit bracket included). Operating range spans -40°C to +75°C, with storage to +85°C and 95% humidity tolerance — suitable for outdoor equipment boxes and unheated shelters. Feed 48–57 VDC via the barrel connector (0.85A draw) from a regulated supply or PoE midspan. Insert the correct SFP module (100FX for up to ~2 km fiber, 1000FX for longer distances at gigabit speeds) before powering up. MTBF exceeds 100,000 hours under rated conditions. No configuration required — auto-negotiates to the highest supported data rate.
