Description

Comnet CNMCSFPPOE Multi-Rate Media Converter with PoE+

Overview

The CNMCSFPPOE is a 10/100/1000 Mbps industrial media converter designed to extend copper Ethernet runs and inject PoE+ power over fiber links in surveillance and access-control deployments. It handles IEEE 802.3at PoE (30W output) while maintaining dual fiber-mode selection (100FX/1000FX) — meaning you can size the fiber link to your budget and speed requirements without swapping hardware. Use this when you need to run camera or edge-device power across long copper distances without burning voltage drop, or when fiber isolation is a compliance or noise requirement.

Compatibility

The CNMCSFPPOE works with any standard PoE-enabled IP camera, access control reader, or networked edge device drawing up to 30W at 802.3at spec. It is transparent to the powered device — no firmware or driver required. Connect the copper UTP port to your PoE source (switch or injector), fiber trunk to your distribution point, and the remote copper port to the end device. Compatible with IP cameras from any vendor, network switches with PoE output, and standard PoE-powered sensors or readers rated for 48–57 VDC input.

Installation Notes

Power input: 48–57 VDC @ 0.85A via PoE, or 9–24 VDC (DC) / 24 VAC (AC) for non-PoE local power scenarios. Operating environment: -40°C to +75°C operating range and 0–95% non-condensing humidity ensures outdoor pedestal and mechanical-room deployments without thermal de-rating. Fiber mode selection: Set converter to either 100FX or 1000FX before installation — mode is selectable but not field-switchable without power cycle. Use 100FX for budget fiber runs under 2 km or when legacy infrastructure requires 100 Mbps; choose 1000FX for future-proof capacity and multi-camera aggregation. Power consumption: 35W when sourcing PoE; 2.5W (single-channel), 5W (dual), or 10W (quad) in non-PoE mode, depending on configuration. Specify the Comfit or Mini form factor based on your panel footprint — both offer identical electrical specs.
