Description

Comnet CNFE2MCPOE Ethernet Media Converter with PoE

Overview

The CNFE2MCPOE is a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet-to-optical media converter that bridges copper and fiber runs while sourcing up to 30 watts of PoE power to connected devices. Built for surveillance and industrial networks spanning long distances or electrically noisy environments where fiber isolation is critical, it accepts user-selectable SFP modules (sold separately) to accommodate different fiber types and reach up to 80 km. The integrated 24 VDC 1.5A power supply converts standard wall power (90–264 VAC) and feeds both the converter and the PoE output simultaneously.

Compatibility

The CNFE2MCPOE pairs with any IP camera, network device, or PoE-powered endpoint drawing up to 30W at 48 VDC — typical for compact PTZ heads, wireless access points, LED illuminators, and secondary cameras in remote locations. The RJ-45 electrical port auto-negotiates 10 or 100 Mbps full or half duplex; no manual configuration required. The SFP optical port runs at 100 Mbps full duplex. Compatible fiber types and distances depend on the SFP module installed — consult the module datasheet for span limits. Works with any standard ONVIF-compliant VMS or camera management platform that recognizes the PoE device downstream.

Installation Notes

Operate within -40°C to +75°C ambient; storage up to +85°C. Meets NEMA TS-1/TS-2 and Caltrans traffic-signal environmental specs, making it suitable for outdoor junction boxes and roadside enclosures. Auto MDI/MDI-X crossover eliminates swapped-pair cable concerns. Voltage transient protection on all power and signal lines safeguards against surges and lightning transients — no external surge suppressor required on the Ethernet side. Mount the CNFE2MCPOE in a DIN rail or wall-mounted enclosure; dimensions are 10.4 × 9.4 × 2.8 cm (Mini form factor) or 15.5 × 13.5 × 2.8 cm (ComFit form factor, depending on configuration). MTBF exceeds 100,000 hours. Note: PoE output is not available when the unit is mounted within a ComNet rack — verify your form factor and mounting location before installation.
