Comnet CNGE2MCPOE.BT 90W Gigabit PoE Media Converter
The Comnet CNGE2MCPOE.BT bridges copper Ethernet and single-mode or multimode fiber in surveillance deployments where distance, EMI, or security requires fiber isolation. It accepts a standard RJ45 connection carrying both data and power (IEEE 802.3bt up to 90W), converts to SFP fiber, and delivers the full PoE budget across the optical span — essential when pushing high-draw cameras (PTZ heads, multi-sensor arrays, LED illuminators) beyond standard copper limits.
Overview
This is a 1000 Mbps media converter rated for industrial environments (-40 to +75°C operating, -40 to +85°C storage). The copper side accepts 10/100/1000 Mbps and delivers up to 90W of PoE power per IEEE 802.3bt Class 1–8, meaning you can run a single fiber run to a distant building or across a factory floor while maintaining full power and data integrity. The SFP fiber port scales to whatever distance your fiber run requires — no intermediate power supply, no extra rack space. Operating draw under 3W makes it negligible on your primary PoE supply.
Compatibility
Works with any surveillance camera or PoE-powered device that accepts 52–57 VDC input and connects via standard RJ45. This includes IP cameras drawing 60W or more, fiber-optic extenders, remote NVRs, and access control devices. Fiber connector type (single-mode or multimode SFP module) must match your installed fiber plant — confirm with your fiber contractor before ordering. The unit does not include the SFP transceiver module; you supply or source the SFP that matches your fiber spec and distance requirements.
Installation Notes
Mount near the PoE source (switch or injector) on the copper side; place the mate unit near the remote device on the fiber end. Fiber connections require proper termination and testing — a loose SFP or dirty connector will cause link loss or bit errors. Ensure your PoE source can deliver 90W continuously on the target port; standard 802.3af (15W) or 802.3at (30W) switches will not supply full power. Operating voltage tolerance is 52–57 VDC; confirm your PoE injector output is within spec. Humidity tolerance (0–95% non-condensing) suits outdoor or equipment-room installations but not sealed enclosures without ventilation.
