The Geovision 84-APOE081-301U is an 8-port Gigabit PoE+ network switch purpose-built for small- to medium-scale IP surveillance installations. It consolidates power delivery and data connectivity for up to 8 IP cameras or networked security devices over standard Ethernet runs, eliminating the need for separate power supplies at each endpoint. The unit supports IEEE 802.3at PoE+ (up to 30W per port), which handles nearly all fixed-position IP cameras, PTZs drawing under 30W, and standard IP intercoms. Two additional Gigabit uplink ports allow daisy-chaining to a core switch or NVR, making it ideal for distributed camera deployments in retail floors, warehouses, or multi-building sites where centralized power control and simplified cabling reduce installation labor.
The 84-APOE081-301U works with any standard IP camera, doorbell, or network device that supports PoE or PoE+ power delivery over IEEE 802.3af/at. This includes fixed domes, bullets, turrets, and compact PTZ cameras from Axis, Hikvision, Dahua, Uniview, Hanwha, and other ONVIF-compliant manufacturers—provided the endpoint draws 30W or less. Network video recorders (NVRs) and management stations connect via the uplink ports for power monitoring and network redundancy. Do not use this switch to power endpoints exceeding 802.3at limits (e.g., high-powered IR illuminators, motorized lens PTZs drawing >30W, or 24VAC/48VDC legacy cameras)—those require external power supplies.
Mount the switch in an equipment rack, wall enclosure, or cable tray near the camera distribution point to minimize run lengths and voltage drop. All ports support standard Cat5e or Cat6 cabling. Ensure the switch receives stable 120/240VAC input power; use a UPS or battery backup for critical installations where power loss cannot be tolerated. Do not operate the switch in unventilated metal enclosures—internal dissipation can reduce port reliability. Verify total PoE load before deployment: 8 cameras × 13W average ≈ 104W draw; confirm the switch's PSU rating supports your full endpoint load under peak demand (e.g., recording + illumination simultaneously).
