Description

Middle Atlantic RC-4 4RU Clamping Rackshelf

Overview

The Middle Atlantic RC-4 is a 4-rack-unit clamping shelf designed for mounting non-racked equipment inside standard 19-inch equipment enclosures. At 15.1 inches of usable depth (15.37 in overall), the RC-4 accommodates most mid-depth AV receivers, DVRs, unmanaged switches, and similar gear that ships without rack ears. The clamping mount design means you don't need threaded rails — the shelf secures directly to the rack's front rail using two mounting points, leaving the sides open for cable routing. UL-rated load capacity is 50 lbs; the shelf's structural weight capacity is 85 lbs, giving you margin for denser gear without worrying about long-term sag. If you're populating a rack accessory bay with a mix of rack-native and non-racked units, the RC-4 fills that gap cleanly.

Compatibility

Fits any Middle Atlantic enclosure or third-party rack built to the EIA-310 19-inch standard — including Middle Atlantic's ERK, WRK, PD, and BGR series rack enclosures. The 19-inch width and standard RU hole pattern ensure compatibility across virtually all open-frame and enclosed rack enclosures from Middle Atlantic, Belden, Legrand, Chatsworth, and other EIA-310-compliant manufacturers. The 4 RU height blocks four rack spaces, so plan your rack layout accordingly — this is not a 1U or 2U shelf. Usable interior depth of 15.1 inches fits the majority of commercial-grade surveillance DVRs, NVRs, and network appliances that typically run 12–14 inches deep. Equipment requiring deeper than 15.1 inches will overhang or won't seat properly.

Installation Notes

Mounts via 2 clamping points to the front rail only — no rear rail contact required, which makes it usable in open-frame racks with single-column rails. Verify your rack's front-rail hole spacing matches EIA-310 before ordering. The shelf itself is 7 inches tall (the full 4 RU envelope); allow clearance above and below if adjacent gear has ventilation requirements. No tools beyond a standard screwdriver are needed for installation. Weight distribution should stay within the 50 lb UL-rated figure for installations subject to compliance review.
