Description

Middle Atlantic RC-2 2U Clamping Rackshelf

Overview

The Middle Atlantic RC-2 is a 2U fixed rackshelf designed for standard 19-inch equipment racks. The RC-2 supports up to 50 lbs (UL-rated), making it a practical platform for rack accessories, unmanaged switches, media converters, or lightweight NVRs that lack front-panel rack ears. At 15.37 inches deep with 15.1 inches of usable surface, it accommodates most 1U and 2U chassis without crowding adjacent gear. Clamping-style attachment means no cage nuts required — the shelf clamps directly to the rack rail, which speeds deployment in pre-populated Middle Atlantic enclosures and third-party open-frame racks alike.

Compatibility

Fits any standard 19-inch EIA-310 rack with a rail depth that accommodates the clamping mechanism. The 19-inch width and 2RU height are standard across network racks and enclosures from Middle Atlantic, Chatsworth, Tripp Lite, Kendall Howard, and similar manufacturers. Suitable for non-rack-mountable equipment up to 50 lbs — including PoE injectors, fiber patch panels, KVM extenders, and compact access control hardware that ships without rack ears. Consult the equipment manufacturer's dimensional spec before loading near the 50 lb limit; the usable depth of 15.1 inches will not accommodate most full-depth servers or storage arrays. For heavier loads, evaluate a deeper or higher-capacity rackshelf in the Middle Atlantic catalog.

Installation Notes

Two mounting points attach the shelf to the rack rails — verify rail spacing matches standard EIA-310 before ordering. No cage nuts or additional hardware are required for the clamping attachment. Width is fixed at 19 inches; this shelf is not adjustable and will not fit sub-19-inch two-post relay racks or four-post racks with non-standard rail spacing.
