Overview
The ATEN UCE3250 is a 4-port USB 2.0 extender designed to overcome the typical 16-foot USB cable length limitation. It enables you to position USB devices up to 165 feet away from the host computer using standard Cat 5 cabling. This is critical for deploying peripherals like barcode scanners, printers, or remote workstations in environments where the host PC cannot be co-located, such as security control rooms or industrial automation setups. The UCE3250R model specifically offers rack-mount functionality for easier integration into IT infrastructure.
Compatibility
This extender supports USB 2.0, 1.1 High Speed, Full Speed, and Low Speed devices. It is designed to work with standard USB host controllers and a broad range of USB peripherals. The system functions by extending both the USB data signals and the necessary power over the Cat 5 cable, simplifying deployment by eliminating the need for separate power supplies at the remote end for many devices.
Installation Notes
The UCE3250 operates within a humidity range of 0–80% RH, non-condensing. It requires a DC power input for the local unit. For rack-mount versions (UCE3250R), note that physical dimensions are expressed in a WxDxH format.
