ACTi ZNR-425 32-Channel Rackmount NVR
Overview
The ACTi ZNR-425 is a 32-channel standalone network video recorder designed for enterprise surveillance deployments in data centers, command centers, and distributed multi-site operations. The unit handles 160 Mbps recording throughput — enough to sustain simultaneous streams from 32 standard-bitrate camera feeds without frame loss or storage bottlenecks. Built as a true rackmount appliance, it integrates directly into existing IT infrastructure and uses standard 19-inch rack space, eliminating the need for separate server furniture or thermal management complications that come with smaller desktop units.
Compatibility
The ZNR-425 works with any IP camera that outputs RTSP or HTTP streams, making it agnostic to camera vendor. It is particularly well-suited to ACTi IP camera lines (ACTi E-series, I-series, and Q-series) due to native driver optimization, but will also ingest streams from third-party ONVIF-compliant devices including Axis, Hikvision, Dahua, and Uniview cameras. Network-based architecture means no proprietary connectors — standard Ethernet cabling handles all camera traffic, and the unit connects to monitoring workstations via standard HDMI or VGA output ports.
Installation Notes
The ZNR-425 requires standard 19-inch rack rails and 2U of vertical rack space. Verify your rack PDU provides sufficient amperage for DC 12V power input; the unit does not draw PoE directly — it consumes power via dedicated 12V supply (exact wattage not specified in datasheet, but typical for 32-channel appliances ranges 100–150W). Install network switches upstream with ample port count and aggregate bandwidth; a single gigabit switch port per 4–6 cameras is a practical ceiling to avoid saturation. Storage disks are not included — the unit accommodates four standard 3.5-inch SATA or SAS drives in hot-swap bays, allowing 8–40TB total capacity depending on disk selection and compression codec choice.
